"I am the vine, you are the branches : he that abides in Me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit : for without Me (Jesus) you can do nothing" (Jhn. 15:5) Freedom is sweet, in which one has the choice to carry out his own volition or intent at will. 

Anybody who will do this won't be totally independent from God. Freedom relates with the master, while independence signifies, "you are on your own". Let's relate with Jesus and secure our needed Freedom that he gives.
